I recently realised, to my sad displeasure, that's it's been more than a year since I've written any sort of story simply for myself, without any challenge or fest attached to prod me along. It was more than a bit shocking, in all honesty, considering I used to write constantly, in all my spare time, regardless of whether I posted what came out or not. I'm not at all pleased about this, so I've decided to get myself back in the swing of things. I scoured the 'Net until I stumbled across a sorta-somewhat prompt list that looked vaguely interesting. I've decided to post it here, and as I fill certain prompts, I'll replace it with a link. I'll probably not do all of them, as there are some that aren't really my thing, but anyone else is welcome to them if they find inspiration.

1. It was the first snowfall of the year.
2. He hadn't seen her since the day they left school.
3. The city burned, fire lighting up the night sky.
4. Silk
5. She studied her face in the mirror.
6. The smell of freshly-cut grass.
7. They came back every year to lay flowers at the spot.
8. The streets were deserted. Where was everyone? Where had they all gone?
9. This time her boss had gone too far.
10. Red eyes
11. Stars blazed in the night sky.
12. He woke to birdsong.
13. 'Shh! Hear that?' 'I didn't hear anything.'
14. He'd always hated speaking in public.
15. She woke, shivering, in the dark of the night.
16. The garden was overgrown now.
17. He'd never noticed a door there before.
18. She'd have to hitch a ride home.
19. 'I told him not to come back, too!'
20. His feet were already numb. He should have listened.

I've also noticed that whoever made this list seems to have a certain preference for night. Not that I mind; just an observation. ^_^

Because I'm bored and acidbathory is asleep or has disappeared somewhere, but either way won't talk to me, I'm doing a meme. ^_^ And I did two songs, just because it's funny.

1. Randomly pick a song from your music library.
2. Find the lyrics for the first four verses/chorus
3. Go to Google translation and translate the lyrics from English into German.
4. Take the new German lyrics and translate them into French.
5. Take the new French lyrics and translate them into English.
6. Post the NEW English lyrics and have people guess the original song.

Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I always floated above, but I flew too high

Though my eyes could see I still was a blind
Though my mind could think I still a mad man
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming
I can hear them say:

Continue on my wayward son
There will be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Do you remember do not cry

Disguised as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man,
Well, it surely means that I do not know

Well, I woke up to the sound of silence
And the cries were like knives in a fight
And I found you with a bottle of wine
Your head in the curtains
And heart as the Fourth of July

She swore and said:
"We are not,
We are not the brightest stars "
I know that
I never said that we are

Although I've never been through hell to
I closed the windows enough to know, you can never see them again

If you're lost and alone
Or are you as a stone well
Your past, its
The feet on the ground

Now, guess the original song.

So, I started getting ready for work tonight and turned on Spongebob (because yes, I am still a kid at heart and will always be, and I actually sorta like Spongebob).

There I was, going about my business, and Spongebob and pals were wandering around, looking for something, I think (wasn't really paying much attention), when I hear Spongebob say 'marauder'.

Of course, I begin to freak out just the smallest bit until I realise that it is also a descriptive word and not just the name of a group of boys.

Harry Potter has ruined my life.

Title: Monsters in the Box
Team: Sirius
Rating: R/NC-17
Warnings: Sexual situations, language, implied torture, character death
Genre(s): AU, Angst, Romance(?)
Word Count: ~36,400
Summary: Sirius has never settled, and has never had any desire to do so. Travelling around the world, he’s always been relatively happy. When he returns home after a long absence, however, Sirius if forced to reconsider his choices and to choose which is more important to him: love or family?
Notes: When I originally started this thing, it was only supposed to be about 10,000 words long. As you can see, it sort of took on a mind of its own. For that reason, I think the title is very apt for more than one reason. Inspiration came from the poem in which the prompt was taken from, Snow and Dirty Rain by Richard Siken. Massive thanks to eldritcher and acidbathory for the wonderful beta jobs. Also, another great thank you to eldritcher for the wonderful translations you performed for me! And to Katieepotter for listening to all of my rants and rages about this monster and calming me down from all of my hair-pulling freak-outs. And the largest thank you of all goes to all of my teammates on Team Sirius. Everyone of you are brilliantly wonderful and I’d hate to see where this thing would be (under the bed in a box covered in tape) if it weren’t for all of you!
Prompt: 32
… we are the crossroads, my little outlaw,
and this is the map of my heart, the landscape
after cruelty which is, of course, a garden, which is
a tenderness, which is a room, a lover saying Hold me
tight, it's getting cold.
~ excerpt from Snow and Dirty Rain by Richard Siken

It’s like Muggle science and we’re the magnets. There’s always something there, pulling us closer.

It's shameful how long it's taken me to post this, seeing as I got this package about three weeks ago. :-/
